The price of gold stabilized today, Wednesday, in Egypt in the middle of trading, compared to its level at the beginning of trading, according to what Naji Farag, head of the Economic Committee of the Gold and Jewelry Division of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, told Masrawy.
The price of the dollar in some banks exceeded 50 pounds for sale at midday trading, coinciding with the Central Bank raising interest rates.
The Central Bank of Egypt raised the interest rate by 6% at once on deposits and lending in an extraordinary meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee today.
The central interest rate rose after the increase to 27.25% for deposits and 28.25% for lending.
Gold prices today
14 karat gold prices stabilized at 1933 pounds per gram.
The price of 18 karat gold was about 2486 pounds per gram.
The price of 21 carat gold stabilized at 2,900 pounds per gram.
The price of 24 karat gold recorded about 3314 pounds per gram.
The price of the gold pound
The price of the gold pound reached 22,200 pounds, and the price may vary from one merchant to another, and this price is equal to the value of gold in the pound.
Gold price globally
The price of gold globally fell to about $2,133 per ounce (an ounce is equivalent to about 31.1 grams of 24 karat), a decline of 0.25% in midday trading on Tuesday, according to the latest update of Bloomberg data.
