The Royal Documentation Center displays a document on the occasion of International Women’s Day

The Royal Jordanian Hashemite Documentation Center presented a document showing the appointment of the first female minister in the Kingdom, in a historic step that enhances the role of women in political life.

The Center explained in a statement on Thursday that the document shows the Royal Declaration issued by Basman Al-Zahir Palace, in which His Majesty King Hussein I bin Talal was assigned to form a new government under the leadership of Sharif Abdul Hamid Sharaf. Inaam Al-Mufti was among those ministers appointed in that period, thus becoming the first Minister in the history of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Center stated that this appointment is a royal message confirming the importance of the role of women in governance and development, and reflects Jordan’s commitment to promoting gender equality and enhancing the role of women in all fields, noting that the Royal Declaration of this appointment was issued in 1979 after the resignation of the former Prime Minister, and that this The decision came within the framework of Jordan’s efforts towards building a more developed and inclusive society.
