Iranian television said that the harsh weather conditions made it difficult for the rescue teams that deployed to the scene of the Iranian president’s plane accident Ibrahim Raisi.

On Sunday afternoon, state television announced the occurrence of what it described as a “difficult accident” involving a helicopter that was carrying Raisi and other officials, including Foreign Minister Amir Hossein Abdullahian, while they were heading to East Azerbaijan Province.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent explained that there is no clear information about how the plane landed yet, but the talk is about a difficult landing, noting that the “Julfa” area where the plane landed is witnessing very difficult weather that makes it difficult to determine exactly what happened.

Iranian television reported heavy fog overhead, in addition to rugged mountainous terrain.
