The Qatari national team defeated its guest, the Indonesian national team, 2-0, today, Monday, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, in the first round of the first group competitions of the Asian Youth Cup under 23 years in Qatar.

The first half ended with Al-Annabi leading with a goal scored by Khaled Ali in the 45th minute from a penalty kick, and Ahmed Al-Rawi added the second goal in the 54th minute.

The Indonesian national team completed the match with 9 players after midfielder Ivar Jenner was sent off in the 46th minute, after receiving a second warning, in addition to the expulsion of substitute player Ramadan Sananta in the last seconds.

Qatar topped the group standings with 3 points, compared to one point each for Jordan and Australia, while Indonesia remained devoid of points.

Jordan draws with Australia

In the first match of the tournament, the Jordanian national team’s match with its Australian counterpart today was dominated by a scoreless draw at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Al Duhail Club.

Caution prevailed in the performance of both teams with some mutual attacking attempts, without either of them succeeding in scoring the other’s goal.

The Jordanian team ended the match with 10 players, as Daniel Afaneh was sent off in the 83rd minute, after receiving a second warning.

In the second match in Group A, later today, Monday, Qatar, the home team, will meet its Indonesian counterpart at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
