Another absurd event under the auspices of the league director and the basketball union: on a day when Gilboa/Galil from the national league can, on the face of it, guarantee its promotion to the Premier League – the basketball union issued a statement in which the court decided to give the union and the league director a period of one week to formulate an arrangement regarding the amount of increases and decreases .
If the parties do not reach a settlement, a judgment will be issued on the matter. The discussion took place due to a petition by the Premier League management, who still wants to bring about one increase and at the same time freeze the reductions (or alternatively hold a test match, as decided at the management meeting). The main reason for the request, according to the league manager, is that the past season was not entirely sporty due to the war, what’s more, there were no foreigners in the national league this season.
As I recall, two years ago an agreement was signed between the basketball association and the Premier League management regarding two promotions for the next few years, while in the current season one team was supposed to be relegated from the Premier League. Due to the war, throughout the last few months the administration tried to lead a move of one new player so as not to reach a situation of 15 teams in the Premier League next season, but the idea met with great opposition from the union and the national league administration.
The very fact that the discussion took place today, is a very non-standard event – since the teams that advanced to the semi-finals in the National, came knowing that a victory in the series would advance them to the league. If the court accepts the league manager’s request, then suddenly – while the regulations are being made – the rules will change.
