Who is Rafa Silva that Saudi youth plan to attract?

Riyadh: Issa Al-Hakami

Al-Shabab Saudi Club directed its goals towards Benfica’s Portuguese midfielder Rafa Silva, to be the Saudi club’s first signing next summer.

According to identical sources, Silva was chosen by his compatriot Vitor Pereira, the team’s coach, who is seeking to rebuild his squad in preparation for next season’s competitions after a modest season for his team this season.

Rafa, 31 years old, is active in the midfield for Benfica, and has never had a professional experience outside his country, despite representing the Portuguese national team in 25 matches beginning in 2014.

During his career, which began with the club Bouvice in 2003 in the youth stage, he then played professionally for the clubs Vibrense (2012-2013), Sporting Braga (2013-2016), and Benfica from 2016 until now.

During the current 2024 season, Rafa appeared in 30 matches alongside Benfica, in which he scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists to his teammates, presenting an ideal season that made the Saudi youth put him at the forefront of their choices in order to compete in the next season.
