The end of an era is coming soon. For 40 years, Pat Sajak has been a familiar face on American televisions, hosting the game show “Wheel of Fortune.”
Sajak, 77, has decided that this season will be his last, per USA TODAY. His final episode will be broadcast soon, and we already know who is replacing Sajak as the “Wheel of Fortune” host.
Ryan Seacrest will replace Pat Sajak as ‘Wheel of Fortune’ host
Ryan Seacrest announced in June 2023 that he would be taking Sajak’s place next season, which begins in September, USA TODAY reported at the time.
Seacrest is a veteran of multiple shows. He has hosted “American Idol” since 2002 and spent six seasons on “Live,” replacing Michael Strahan as Kelly Ripa’s co-host in 2017. He also ushered in the new year with Dick Clark from 2005 until Clark’s death in 2012, when Seacrest took over as solo host of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”
When is Pat Sajak’s last show?
June 7 will mark the end of the current “Wheel of Fortune” season, and the end of Sajak’s tenure as host, USA TODAY reports. The episode was filmed in April.
Will Vanna White return to ‘Wheel of Fortune’?
“Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White, 66, has extended her contract with the program through the 2025-26 season, USA TODAY reported in September 2023.
USA TODAY reported that Seacrest reacted enthusiastically to the “great news” in an interview for “Sunday Today with Willie Geist.”
“It’s super important to have Vanna White on ‘Wheel of Fortune,'” he said during the interview. “It’s great news. I’m very happy to hear it and very happy I get to work with her.”
Sajak and White have hosted “Wheel of Fortune” since its debut in syndication in 1983, according to Sony Pictures Television Studios, which produces the show.
