Yair Golan, the chairman of the Democrats, explained his policy • on negotiations with the coalition regarding the Levin-Saar plan: “Whoever stole from you 7 times already, we don’t negotiate with him”
The Israeli delegation flew tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) to Doha to continue the contacts for a possible kidnapping deal. The chairman of the Democrats Major General (Res.) Yair Golan referred to the issue, to the resignation of the Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Amir Baram and also: to the compromise outline of Levin and Saar regarding the legal reform.
During the conversation, he gave his opinion on the possibility of a possible safety net for the government for a hostage deal: “It is enough that this government, which I strongly oppose, would and will bring a deal for the release of hostages, and the one who will stand in our way to this deal is a member of the extreme nationalists, the bloodthirsty and the worshipers of power in the form of Smotrich And Ben Gvir, then we will back up the Prime Minister and the rest of the government so that there is a deal to release the hostages, for that you don’t have to enter to the government,” Golan said.
“There is no place to negotiate with this government on legal reform”
In the meantime, he also responded to the call of the chairman of the state camp, MK Benny Gantz, to discuss legal reform with the coalition, based on the compromise outline proposed by Ministers Levin and Sa’ar: “We need to tell Benny Gantz and anyone who has the desire to start negotiating with this government , someone who has already stolen from you 7 times, you don’t negotiate with him for a partial refund of part of the theft, you just don’t do it. A criminal is a criminal criminal”.
According to him, “There is no place to negotiate with this government on a legal reform that has no need, these are trivial matters, this is eye catching. The Israeli government these days should only deal with three things – a deal to release hostages and a ceasefire, this is the first issue; the establishment of a committee A state investigation is the second issue; and going to the elections as soon as possible is the third issue; apart from these three issues, it is possible to reach an agreement with the government, both on the deal and on the committee An investigation and also about going to the elections.”
“On all other issues, there is nothing to reach an agreement with this government. This is a corrupt, corrupt government, which is corrupting the Israeli space, which is causing conflict between the public and the public, it is a failure and a disaster government that needs to go home,” he added.
“There is no doubt that Hertzi Halevi has to pay a personal price”
Later he also referred to the resignation of the Deputy Chief of Staff General Amir Baram and claimed: “I have not spoken to Amir Baram for many months, nor to Hertzi.” I can only say one thing, General Baram is an outstanding man and undoubtedly a more worthy candidate to be Chief of Staff, what will happen from here on? It seems to me that this is a much more political question than a question of suitability for the position.”
“There is no doubt that Hertzi Halevi, as the person in charge of the IDF on October 7th, has to pay a personal price for what happened on October 7th, which is the most serious military failure in the history of the State of Israel. The problem is one, a political problem. If we witness the dismissal of Halevi or his expected resignation, the whole thing serves the political echelon’s evasion of any responsibility for October 7 – then that would be unthinkable,” he added.
According to him, “the next chief of staff should be elected by a government that wins the trust of the people.” If the person who elects the next Chief of Staff is a member of the Shlomiels who are clearly responsible for the failure of October 7, the real danger is that whoever is elected is an unsuitable person whose entire purpose of appointment is to cover up the government’s failures, to cast aspersions on the army and in fact instead of the Chief of Staff being the man The most talented person who protects the lives of his sons and daughters, this will be the person who gives the most comfortable mantle to the prime minister and the member of the non-working ministers his”.
He went on to say: “It cannot be that a group that brought us to October 7, that tore the nation apart from the inside, that transmitted an unacceptable weakness to all our enemies, that encouraged Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran, cannot be that this group is still sitting on a machine, continuing to rob the the state’s finances, deals with the evasion law, fires a defense minister, whose abilities can be debated, but is undoubtedly qualified for his position, replaces him with a businessman A non-high ranking politician, these things are unacceptable.”
“The State of Israel is in the middle of a crazy process, at the epicenter of this madness – a corrupt government and a corrupt prime minister, all of these need to go home even before any of them can make a decision on senior appointments in the Israeli security system,” he concluded.
